Books

There is so much to offer at the Hattie Cotton library! Students have access to thousands of books. Each month, our library receives new books, so our collection is always up to date with the most current selections! From princesses, to superheroes, to fairy tales and sharks, everyone is sure to find books they love at the Hattie Cotton library. Each child visits the library at least once a week to check out new books. Students can borrow books for two weeks and always have the choice to renew their books if needed.

Our students also have access to Limitless Libraries. Limitless Libraries is a partnership between Nashville Public Library (NPL) and Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools (MNPS).Through Limitless Libraries, students have access to items from all of the Nashville Public Libraries locations. To use Limitless Libraries students will login to their accounts, place holds on items, and then the items are shipped to the school free of charge. Students may borrow the items for two weeks. When they are finished with the item, students simply return the item back to the Hattie Cotton library and it will be sent back to the Nashville Public Library location.

Makerspace

Our library also has a makerspace. A makerspace is an area where students come to explore, build, create, and tinker. Makerspaces provide hands-on learning, help with critical thinking skills and even boost self-confidence and teamwork. In Makerspaceour makerspace, students can choose to code robots through mazes, complete Lego challenges, build puzzles, tinker with magnets, or write songs.
